William and Samuel both spent their entire lives here on Cape Ann. William (who died in 1919) served in the Civil War with Company G of the Massachusetts 8th Infantry Regiment, and later worked on the Gloucester waterfront. Samuel married Belinda Friend in 1866 and had six children. Samuel also found work around the waterfront.
