Ellie [Portrait of Eleanor Weber Hershey, the artist’s wife]

Samuel Hershey's ties to Cape Ann were strengthened by his marriage to Rockport native Eleanor Weber, whom he portrayed here with the town and its famous Motif Number One in the background. When creating this portrait of his wife, it was said "the town and the woman were joined in Hershey's mind, so he painted them together."
