Highlights Tours
Tuesdays - Thursdays at 11:00 a.m.
Docent-led Highlights Tours are included with admission and are offered on a first come, first served basis. Docents will share stories and information about pieces from the museum's permanent and special exhibitions.
Starting July 5, 2023, Highlights Tours will be offered every day from Tuesday - Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
Captain Elias Davis House Tours
Fridays at 2:00 p.m.
Enjoy a docent tour of the first floor of the Davis House, furnished with period pieces and antiquities. The Captain Elias Davis House, located in Gloucester’s downtown neighborhood, was constructed between 1799 and 1804 and has been the headquarters of the Cape Ann Museum since 1923.
Walking Tours
The Museum offers a variety of walking tours in and around Cape Ann throughout the year. Walking tours include, but are not limited to: Fitz Henry Lane in Gloucester, Joe Garland's Gloucester, the Bones of Homes, and Hopper's Houses. Museum admission is included with the cost of these special guided tours. Reservations are required and the schedule of tours can be found here.
Group Tours
Private group tours can be scheduled by appointment and can be tailored to best fit the specific needs and interests of the group. Choose one of these popular options or build your own experience:
- Highlights of the Collection Tour—This tour gives an overview of all the galleries including the Cape Ann, Lane, Folly Cove Designers, Fisheries & Maritime, and Granite galleries.
- Fitz Henry Lane Tour - examines Lane in context of America's oldest seaport
- Captain Elias Davis House Tour - visit the Federal style home of the seafaring Captain Elias Davis, built in 1804

Guided group tours are $5.00 + regular admission rate.
School Group Tours

Friday – Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

White-Ellery House Tour - visit the home built in 1710 for the Reverend John White, Gloucester’s first settled minister in First Parish. The tour will share who lived in the house over time, its exterior structure and interior features, and the adventure of being moved to make way for the Route 128 rotary. Check the website for tour times and availablity.
