Parking and Entrance

Free accessible spaces are available on Pleasant Street directly in front of the Museum as well as in the Museum Employee parking lot. Although the lot is reserved for Museum employees, the accessible space is available to the public.

Nearby, metered parking is available along Pleasant Street and in a public lot across the street from the Museum.

The Museum has one entrance on Pleasant Street with a ramp leading to the front door. Drop-offs are permitted on Pleasant Street in front of the Museum gate.

Mobility Devices

Two manual wheelchairs and one walker with wheels are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Please return them after your visit.

The Cape Ann Museum also welcomes your personal mobility device. An elevator and lifts are available for access between floors.

The Museum is completely accessible for all mobility devices with the exception of our historical homes, the Captain Elias Davis House and our off-site property, the White-Ellery House. Due to the historical nature of the houses, the door frames are not wide enough to accommodate most mobility devices.

Assisted Listening Devices

An assistive listening system for up to 10 people is available at the Visitor Services Desk for use on highlights tours, walking tours, and programs in our auditorium. Headphones are provided.

For more information, call (978)283-0455 x110, or e-mail [email protected].

For Visitors Who are Blind or Have Low Vision:

Due to varying levels of preservation and presentation of artwork and artifacts, lighting levels may differ among the galleries.

Please contact us at 978-283-0455 x110 or email [email protected] if you have questions about specific spaces in the museum.

Gallery Seating

Most Museum galleries have permanent benches or chairs. Free light-weight, portable gallery stools are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Please return them at the end of your visit.

Restrooms

All Museum restrooms have fully accessible HP stalls. One family bathroom is located at Museum entrance and additional  restrooms are located on the lower level of the Museum.
