Gloucester Daily Times: Navajo Dancers perform on Cape Ann

May 19, 2023

The Dineh Tah Navajo Dancers made presentations and performed on Cape Ann late last week.

On Thursday, the dancers performed in Manchester-bythe- Sea in commemoration of the 155th anniversary of the signing of the Navajo Treaty by two Indian peace commissioners — Col. Samuel F. Tappan of Manchester and Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman. They then made a presentation at the Cape Ann Museum, 27 Pleasant St., Gloucester, on Friday.

Later Friday, the dancers performed traditional dances with narration at CAM Green, 13 Poplar St., Gloucester. During the performance, SmokeSygnals returned to install benches in the wetu installed as part of “Native Waters, Native Lands” so visitors can sit and enjoy the Wampanoag structure.
