Incollect: Cape Ann Island Vistas
September 22, 2021
Around the turn of the twentieth century many American artists began to gather seasonally into informal “colonies” dotted across the country from California to the Northeast.
This exhibition, Cape Ann and Monhegan Island Vistas: Contrasted New England Art Colonies, organized by the Monhegan Museum of Art & History in conjunction with the Cape Ann Museum, gathers works executed by some of the many landscape artists who worked both on Monhegan Island, some ten miles off the coast of Maine, and at seaside Cape Ann in Massachusetts.
