A popular exhibit has helped to draw in record numbers, prompting the Cape Ann Museum to provide a tempting offer for locals in the spirit of the exhibit itself.
Since its opening on Aug. 3, the museum’s popular “Homer at the Beach: A Marine Painter’s Journey, 1869-1880” exhibit had drawn over 19,000 visitors, with overall attendance at the museum nearing 33,000.
The Winslow Homer exhibition features representations of Gloucester during the 19th century, and has resulted in a dramatic increase in attendance over the previous most-viewed exhibit (The 2015 John Sloan exhibit drew 13,500) and last year’s attendance totals of 25,000.
