Renovated and Ready

July 24, 2014

Cape Ann Beacon - SALEM - Art and history enthusiasts in the region can anticipate many quality improvements and facility comforts when the Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester reopens in August.

"We’ve done many upgrades. The 1930s and 60s sections of the museum hadn’t been updated since the 60s," said Ronda Faloon, the museum’s executive director. "The construction (which began last October) has been ongoing through the winter and new heating and ventilating systems, new ceilings and floors, and new lighting have been installed. We’re very excited about the opening."

After successfully raising $5 million in a capital campaign, with $3.5million earmarked to enhance the galleries and environmental systems for its permanent collections, the museum is set to open on August 19 after more than 10 months of renovations.
