In Gratitude

May 7, 2020 — May 9, 2020

A CAM Contemporary Exhibition honoring frontline workers

In Gratitude is a projection of an illuminated multilingual message, “Thank You Frontline Heroes,” created by Stephanie Terelak Benenson of Harbor Voices and LuminArtz. The message was projected on the barn at the Cape Ann Museum Green on three evenings, finishing with a pop-up rally and procession on the final night. The message, displayed in Portugese, Spanish, Italian and English, is dedicated to the COVID-19 crisis’s frontline responders—nurses, doctors, hospital staff and administrators, delivery and grocery personnel, teachers, and the many non-profits supporting our community at this time.

As cars passed by the installation on the final evening, passengers were encouraged to show their support with cheers and words of thanks for frontline workers. The cheers were recorded and ingrained as part of the permanent art created from the temporary exhibition.

Stephanie Terelak Benenson is a North Shore artist and founder of the nonprofit, Harbor Voices Public Art. The projection was sponsored by LuminArtz Communications Ink., as part of the “Light Up the Night” series that is bringing rays of light into the community during the pandemic.
