Eliot’s Gloucester – CAM Library & Archives

At the age of five, T.S. Eliot (1888-1965) and his family began regularly spending summers in Gloucester, Massachusetts, eventually building their home on Edgemoor Road in East Gloucester. For the next almost 20 years, the city, and region, would be a large part of the poet’s life. To celebrate Eliot’s legacy and connection to Cape Ann, the Cape Ann Museum in partnership with the T.S. Eliot Foundation will be presenting an installation of relevant letters and photographs in the CAM Library & Archives. On view for three weeks will be items loaned from Harvard’s Houghton Library, the Boston Athenaeum, and our neighbors, the Sawyer Free Library. These letters and photographs give great insight into the poet growing up in and being influenced and inspired by Cape Ann.

The CAM Library & Archives is open each Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information, visit our research page, here.
