Preserved within the White-Ellery House are numerous examples of early wall finishes including several different types of decorative painting done on plaster and wood. Details such as these caught the attention of well known preservationist and collector Nina Fletcher Little (1903–1993), who wrote at length about the importance of preserving the structure in 1947.
