Cemetery in Gloucester
Cemetery in Gloucester
Hopper composed this drawing of the Oak Hill Cemetery off Poplar Street during one of his visits to Gloucester in the 1920s. In the foreground runs a solid wall made of field stones which still stands today. Behind the grave markers, the roof tops and chimneys of houses which line Maplewood and Poplar Courts can be seen. It is not known if Hopper ever did a finished painting from this drawing.
