Banister Back Side Chairs
Banister Back Side Chairs
These two early side chairs which are nearly 300 years old descended through the Dennison family who resided in the Annisquam section of Gloucester. Today, with their handsome combination of turned and carved detailing, we might refer to them as being in the William and Mary style. In the 1700s, chairs such as these would have been referred to according to their seat material be it cane, leather, harateen or, in this case, rush.
