Eleanor Cavander Malmi (1914–1998) was born in Lanesville, the daughter of Finnish immigrants. She lived near the Demetrios family and took care of their sons when they were young. Virginia painted Malmi’s portrait when she was 17. Malmi was married in 1934 and had two daughters, Elaine and Darlene. She was one of the original members of the Folly Cove Designers.
